Bea Marin Memorial Scholarship

The Cross Timbers Business and Professional Women’s Organization (CTBPW) is now accepting applications for the Bea Marin Memorial Scholarship.  CTBPW presents scholarships each year to students attending Tarleton State University, and currently majoring Nursing.  The scholarships are awarded in the current fiscal year’s Fall Semester.  

Scholarships are funded by the CTBPW Love Bites Cookie sale each Valentine’s Day. Homemade sugar cookies are baked, decorated, and sold each February to fund these scholarships.  The Love Bites Cookies are becoming a local legend!

Applications must be postmarked by (To be announced) to be considered.  

Eligibility Requirements:
·                Tarleton State University Stephenville Campus student
·                Admitted into the nursing program or candidate
·                Must have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA
·                Provide one letter of recommendation from a professor or department head
·                Complete the Essay requirements as prompted


We encourage our scholarship recipients to become student members of the club and join club activities. 

A Little about Bea:
Bea was born in 1939 in Bryan, Texas. When she enlisted as a registered nurse in the U.S. Air Force in September, 1967, her rank was first lieutenant. Upon her retirement twenty six years later, she held the rank of full colonel. She was dispatched to Vietnam in September, 1968, as a part of the 12th Air Force Hospital at Cam Ranh Bay, South Vietnam. She came to Stephenville in 1994, as Nurse Executive at Harris Methodist Erath Hospital. After leaving the hospital in 2000, she accepted a teaching position in the School of Nursing at Tarleton State University. Her primary teaching duty and passion was in the area of Leadership and Management for senior nursing students.

While in Stephenville, Bea was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Stephenville Lion's Club, American Legion, VFW, Hispanic Business Council, and served as an Ambassador for the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce from 2001-2006, and as Ambassador Club Secretary in 2004. She was also a member of the Cross Timbers Business and Professional Women's Club, Habitat for Humanity, Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council, Humane Society, Stephenville 20th Century Club, Stephenville Music Club, Stephenville Economic Development Foundation and the Texas Nurses Association. Bea served two terms on the Stephenville City Council from 1997-2003. 

Her recognition's included Federal Employee of the Year 1985, Erath County Woman of the Year 1998, and DFW Great 100 Nurses 1999. Bea was a truly amazing and professional woman.
